Refinement of Day & Night -
“In our game, day and night serve as distinct spaces for the player. Day being a short moment’s rest so the player may upgrade, alter their inventory, and interact with allied characters. On the other hand, night is the period of which the player may explore the manor, fight through traps and minions, and even confront his family members. The game leans more towards the night period, as the player will spend more time exploring the house, leaving the day to be a short and simple period to manage themselves.”
Positive: We all got settled into our respective roles more officially this week, dividing the work as we’re interested and creating some pretty cool stuff to refine our idea.
Negative: It was difficult at first to assemble the entire idea as the whole team had a variety of ideas, many that were overscoped and some that just conflicted with each other. But ultimately it was still nice having group brainstorms to see what pieces worked well together in the end.
Upcoming: I will likely keep working on the GDD as we further develop the game, likely giving more attention to the narrative for this next week.
