PPJ #9: Chris
Chris Gautreau, PPJ #9 (August 29, 2024)
Things that went well:
I got a chance to transition to a more artistic role and flex some muscles that I didn’t get to last term.
People seemed to be satisfied with the sound design I worked on, and I think it fit the game well.
I learned a huge amount of new production techniques thanks to how much time.
Things that didn’t go well:
I didn’t feel like I was part of the project or connected to the product that much.
I kept trying to find a section of the programming side of things that interested me and felt like a corner for me to work on, but I never really found my niche.
GitHub issues continue to persist throughout the term for me.
Lessons: I’ll never work in professional game dev like this but I found the product definitely matters to me in terms of how well I can connect and work on it. I also learned I’m giving up on unity and I’m going to learn unreal in my free time. I also learned that creating a cohesive OST is not impossible and I’m capable of completing.
