3 things that went right:

  1. It was good to be exposed to working in such a big group. It felt like a studio almost which was a new experience compared to the normal 2-4 person groups.

  2. I think that the original team did a good job of incorporating the new team members and taking advantage of their strengths.

  3. I got to work on a water shader that was implemented into the game that I am proud of.

3 things that went wrong:

  1. I handled my time really poorly, and because of that, I didn’t get to contribute as much as I would have liked.

  2. I struggled with staying well-connected with the team.

  3. I felt like everyone on the team was already filling their roles super well, and there wasn’t a lot for me to do on the coding side, which I always like to do when possible.

Lessons: Communication and scheduling is everything. Not just to keep track of others but to hold yourself accountable and on time. With projects like this, with so many people and so little time, a lot can slip through the cracks. I learned a lot about shaders as well this term, which is still a relatively new concept to me.
